Cooking with Cancer is a program designed specifically for cancer care of those persons who are afflicted with cancer, care givers of the patients, and all of those who work in the healthcare industry. The content is recipes researched and tested on patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation.
The reason for the quest? We watch changes come and go in oncology; new treatments, new testing and new medications but the most common side effect for these patients is loss of weight due to the loss of appetite has remained the same. We also think more details should be placed on prevention.
Each recipe is designed to enhance taste in those patients, to heal the mouth, to provide maximum nutrition and to treat certain side effects such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, fluid retention, etc.
The goal for all of those who attend this meeting is to have a better understanding of the breakdown in taste, smell and digestion so recommendations for patients are most effective. We share researched data for new and proactive issues in cancer prevention.
