Hard eggs are slick and easy to swallow, requiring very little chewing and lubrication; making them very appropriate for the mouth changes associated with radiation therapy, in particular dry mouth.
This recipe emphasizes the gastrointestinal difficulties related to chemotherapy and use of antibiotics during infection. Loss of taste and some hypersensitivity makes eating difficult.
Clove is a tropical spice. It is the unopened bud of the tree and is known in the USA for braising hams. It contains large amounts of Eugenol, an oil which has significant antiseptic and analgesic effects. this helps relieve the mouth of pain incurred during chemotherapy.
